To co-develop the Guiding Principles for the Collective, a Delphi exercise was undertaken by participants from a diverse range of personal, academic and professional backgrounds, disciplines and sectors. The aims were to inform the Collective’s co-creation, priority areas and ways of working within its three main domains 1) research, 2) training and capacity building and 3) public engagement and advocacy. The consensus statements relate to inclusive, sustainable, and interdisciplinary ways of working along with the ideological shifts required to support system change.
The three Delphi survey rounds took place between February and September 2022. The data were analysed, including a focus on the sociodemographic information from respondents (to monitor inclusion and identify whose input has been missed) and how the consensus statements were ranked and prioritised. Round 1 received 40 responses, round 2 and round 3 received a total of 28 responses. The Delphi Process and the results from the data have been documented and reviewed by the core team and presented to the Collective in meetings. The results of the Delphi informed the HSE Collective Guiding Principles.
